L-1011 Flight Deck
Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 - Cockpit Description
The L-1011 TriStar has a typical three crew flight deck and panels with many analog instruments, a similar layout and concept also found on the 747 Classic and the DC-10. However, being the most advanced of the three widebodies of that time, some signs of new technology were already present. For example, instead of the intensive use of two-position switches on the overhead and flight engineer panels, the L-1011 has illuminated push-buttons with a similar logic to that of modern Airbus aircraft. Also, on the flight engineer panel of the L-1011-500, an innovative system called FIDDS - Fault Isolation Data Display System - collected and stored malfunction data for later maintenance analysis and corrective actions.
