Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 - Cabin Description

The L-1011's cabin was also very innovative and designed with passenger comfort and appeal in mind. Sundberg-Ferar of Detroit was the design firm contracted by Lockheed to set up the details of passenger accomodations and service. Indirect lighting, straight sidewalls, audio and visual entertainment were some of its main features. The spacious cabin and the high ceiling gave it a real living room feeling. Operators were allowed to opt for different cabin seating layouts, ranging from a very comfortable 2-4-2 abreast in coach, in the early days, to a high density 3-4-3. The Dash 500 only had service galleys on the main deck and center overhead bins were a standard feature in economy class.
